For the funding phase 2014-2020, the LEADER region Leipziger Muldenland will receive a funding budget of around € 23.14 million from the Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) for regional development. This is a co-financing between the European Union and the Free State of Saxony. By December 31, 2020, 286 projects had already been positively selected by the regional decision-making body and subsidized with funds from this budget. Exactly 146 projects (i.e. 51%) had actually already been implemented and billed at this point. 140 projects (i.e. 49%) were still being implemented or were about to be completed. The total investment costs eligible for funding for all projects that have been positively selected so far amounted to over € 35.16 million by the end of December 2020. Of this, around € 23.01 million was funded by the EAFRD fund. Before the new EU funding phase can really start, the LEADER regions in Saxony will receive extra funds for new projects for the years 2021 and 2022. The LEADER areas are currently in a transition phase between the funding phases. After the LEADER program for the 2014-2020 funding period formally expired last year, the start of the new funding phase will take some time. So that the many good project ideas in the region can continue to be supported, the LEADER region Leipziger Muldenland is receiving additional funds of EUR 6,330,270 from EU and state funds. The fields of action defined in the LEADER development strategy continue to apply.
